Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I’ve been reading & watching videos for hours because I wanted to know when and how to prune my crepe myrtle into a tree and encourage height! You actually answered my question!

I thought this quick video was very helpful. She was quite clear. I hate the long winded types who yak on and on and I don't need someone holding my hand either.

Really? Standing there explaining how to prune it. Delete this video so we don't waste time.

This is a brilliant video, great advice. Only downside is no actual sample – I'm still happy without one, but from reading the other comments… youtube is full of visual only lazy people who couldn't be bothered to listen and try.

How about a real video showing the actual trimming. I am a visual learner.

NOOOO!!!!! He literally BUTCHERS the tree!!! That is NOT the proper way to trim a crepe myrtle!! Much better ones are ARextension, Gardenmagik, & VolunteerGardener. They all have great videos on how to prune your crape myrtles without murdering them.

I did all this and now I'm left with 3 main branches and nothing on them….no more growth for the past 2 years….I know its still alive cos it has suckers growing that I have to keep pruning out.

The tips are appreciated, but you should have shown some examples of proper and improper pruning to better illustrate what you describe…

A lot of hand flailing doesn't show me how to prune a tree. I don't need someone to read me an article, I want to SEE how it is done.
