I was always told not to water them in the sun as it causes the plants to burn, is that true?

Doesn't the foilage start burn beacuse of the water droplets (lens) and the bright sun ? They told me that you always have to water the roots only (when sun goes down). And never tough the leaves and flower with water. I'm sacred that i get mold this way. But i also live in a other climate. Holland, lot's of rain and humitity…(Got the advice from the BBC in England)

I also soak them very good only a couple of times a year. If you give more water at leas times, the roots will search for water down in the ground and not at the surface.

Ps: I buy a meter that can tell humidity and Ph without batteries. It costed around 3,50 euro / 4 dollars. Don't need it for my regular plants, but for beginners it's a good thing. Then they can look at the meter and feel/see the ground. This way you learn quickly to judge the condition the plant is in.
